of the unique spaces in the city

gets thin. On weekends it can really get busy the band is
able but little original music on display if you like impresarios
and a good sing along it will get your visitor going. If
you are looking for intimate time don’t even think
about it. An evening crawl should include this spot the
crowd is mixed young and the aging rockers Nigerian and
foreign.
Roots
It’s
a makosa lover’s top tip. 7 or 8 years ago Lagos with
its very sophisticated night life and cosmopolitan outlook
took on the central African craze of makosa vibes even though
the crowd doesn’t understand a word of what is being
said the fun seekers still love the gyrating and acrobatic
displays that bands offer. This spot is a must see if you
are into contemporary African or a first time visitor in
Africa. It opens at 10 pm on week ends.
Do-it
all
If you want to see youthful Lagos in its no hang ups best
check this out its in Lagos suburb opebi – Ikeja (geographically
near the airport), crowd is generally quite young and they
dance size each other up play snooker. Music can be really
good with a selection of the best up coming DJ’s Friday
is very big from about 10pm.
La
Saison
A
new addition to the café’s in Lagos and hot
competition for the leaders in the breakfast brunch and
lunch markets in particular. A stylish delicatessen it’s
located in south west Ikoyi. Mood music; subtle ambience
and of high street location makes it promise of a long stay
in hospitality a decent prospect.
Eleven
Forty Five
Still
remains a favorite hot spot for night crawler a clubbers
night club Friday’s is the night to really aim for
the crowd is young to not so young the music is hip hop
soul funk and the occasional pop hits. Located in south
west Ikoyi, it is an inevitable recommendation for the hip
and the hip-at –heart, street credentials are in complete
if you’ve not been.
Yellow
chili
A
good mix of contemporary; African setting and modern western
décor. Its getting a reputation as an after work
rendezvous, where as its roots are lunch time and early
evening meals. No particular days stand out, but there is
live music at the weekend. Newcomers seeking a taste of
African without going to the real “McCoy” could
try this out to test palette and style for size. The crowd
is mature and not really rowdy. Yellow chili is in Victoria
Island.
