Cost

As a general guide, in 2005-2006 session parents can expect to pay annual fees between N12,000 and N350,000 at a day primary school. At senior level, fees range from N450,000 to N1,000,000 at day or boarding schools for a place. Parents are normally asked to pay fees in three termly installments, once at the start of each term, although some schools may offer a choice of payment methods.

If you wish to move your child to another school, the present school will normally require a full term’s notice in writing. Otherwise you may find that you are charged an additional term’s fees in lieu.

Parents may be asked to meet additional cost during the school years for school lunches, school trips, sports kit, music lessons and similar needs. Thus, it is important to check what is and what is not included in the basic termly fee. Boarding students will also require additional items such as bed linen and weekend wear.

Scholarships and Bursaries

If your child is exceptionally talented in a specific area, there may be scholarship opportunities, which could reduce the fees by as much as 50 per cent or possibly more.
