The world football governing body FIFA has named African Independent Television (AIT) as the host broadcaster of the Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Director of TV FIFA, Niclas Ericson, in Johannesburg, South Africa, said FIFA would not risk the production quality of the competition adding that AIT had the equipment and facilities that met FIFA's standard in the broadcast of its events.

He added that the decision to name AIT as the host broadcaster was purely on merit.

AIT has terrestrial broadcast network in 20 locations in Nigeria while it has international satellite TV operations in USA, UK and 16 European countries. The company also erected a custom-built facility inside the Daar media complex for use as the IBCC meet FIFA‘s requirements.

Daarsat, Nigeria‘s first private broadcast network acquired six state-of-the-art HD outside broadcast production trailers for the competition.

The competition takes place between October and November
